Commissioned by the merchant Domenico Plenario, designed and built in 1780 by the architect of Carnic origin Ulderico Moro (1737 – 1804), stood on the central Piazza San Pietro (later Piazza Grande, now Piazza Unità d’Italia) next to the Locanda Grande (now Gran Hotel Duchi d’Aosta). After being purchased by Giovanni Iovovitz (1801) the building in 1834 passed to Leopoldo Pitteri. The historic Minerva Society by Domenico Rossetti founded in 1810 had its first seat in Palazzo Pitteri and still operating. On the ground floor Giuseppe Mander opened the Caffè Flora (1880), which after 1918 became Caffè Nazionale, then Audace and today bears the Sting Bar Experience sign.
